Welcome to my curated daydreams.

I’m Michaela Hillman—an interior decorator blending travel, texture, vintage finds, and cultural storytelling into soulful, personal spaces. Here, I share the full experience behind the design: from DIY projects and hosting rituals to reflections on home, creativity, and the places around the world that inspire me.

Take a look around—explore my work, my home, and the stories that shape it all.

About Me

Hi, I’m Michaela Hillman.

Most people say mi-KAY-luh, but I promise—mih-SHAY-luh sounds so much softer. I’m an interior decorator, creative, and global traveler based in Washington, D.C.

This site is the heart of my journey—designing a home that feels deeply personal and sharing what I’ve learned along the way. I call it curated daydreams: a practice layered with intention, shaped by experience, and rooted in the belief that design is just as much about feeling as it is about function.

DIY is a huge part of my process. I paint, build, and style with my own two hands—not just to bring my vision to life but to show that creating a thoughtful, beautiful home is possible for anyone. My goal is to help others build spaces that reflect who they are, no matter their design style—and to do it with the same level of care, creativity, and curiosity. Your home should be a celebration of your story, and I want to help you get there.

I find inspiration in global travel, transforming my home into a personal archive—filled with layered textures, lived-in beauty, and pieces that reflect where I’ve been and who I am. My design style is a romantic take on soulful maximalism: intimate, expressive, and alive.

Here, I share my home, my travels, the projects I’m working on, and the pieces that help bring it all together. These are my curated daydreams—and I’m so glad you’re here.

When I’m not creating, you can find me at [solidcore], sipping a bubble tea or kombucha, or planning my next big trip (typically involving mountains).

My work has been featured in Architectural Digest, Home & Texture, and more to come soon.
